Gargash receives Esmail Ahmad

Abu Dhabi: Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, received yesterday (Monday) Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmad, UN Special Envoy to Yemen.

During the meeting, they discussed developments in Yemen and avenues for a political solution that is based on the mechanism of the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, the outcomes of national dialogue and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216. They also discussed the role of the UN in preparing for the Riyadh Conference, as well as the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Yemen. The envoy was also briefed on the UAE’s relief efforts over land and sea, and stressed the importance of Al Houthis and their allies abiding by the ceasefire.
