A new family entertainment centre, Fun World, which opens today promises fun, thrills and games. The Dh10 million Fun World at the Al Muhairy Centre will fill the void in the capital's indoor games and entertainment scene.

"It is not just electronic games but the latest in games that will provide children and teenagers fun and education as well," said Saeed Mubarak Al Muhairy, Deputy General Manager of the Al Muhairy Group.

A "kids' island" will provide interactive play vehicles, and a softplay area will serve tiny tots. There are a variety of skill testing and skill improvement games as well. For those seeking spine-tingling thrills there is an enclosure with "interactive motion simulation" complete with light and sound effects. A walk through a zig-zag maze can make one's hair stand on end.

"It is the first of its kind in the capital, and such a complete family entertainment centre in a spacious, conducive environment was a long-felt need," Al Muhairy said. The equipment was imported from over 10 countries. Italian companies designed the interiors and play areas.

Fun World also has a coffee shop, party room and a mini-theatre with stage and seating so children can stage plays. A creche is included and space has been earmarked for an early learning centre which is likely to open later in the year. "To add to the fun, cartoon characters will be roaming around entertaining visitors," Al Muhairy said.
