In 1985, Gulf News relaunched under new management and moved from the crumbling buildings on Airport Road to brand-new custom-built offices, with new presses installed alongside.

From this building started the long years of hard work that allowed Gulf News to first catch up with the competition, and then decisively overtake its rivals.

By 1999, Gulf News was the leading newspaper in the UAE, and the size of its business had grown way beyond the capacity of the 1985 offices.

The newspaper hired experienced press and newspaper consultants Eurographica to help plan how to build for the next decade.
