Fire destroys warehouse in Sharjah

Sharjah: A huge fire destroyed a warehouse in Sharjah’s industrial area on Saturday night, said Lieutenant-Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqabi, Director-General of the emirate’s Civil Defence.

Al Naqabi said the fire broke out at 9.22pm in Industrial Area 2.

Firefighters from Al Hamriyah, Saja and Samnan were involved in controlling the blaze. “We immediately took the necessary precautions to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent warehouses,” he said. 

The fire gutted a warehouse that stored waterproof materials and scrap, he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no reports of casualties.
