Residents stay indoors as dust storm hits Al Ain and surrounding areas

Al Ain: Dust storm hit Al Ain and its surrounding areas on Wednesday, adding to the woes of the resident braving the heat wave.

The storm hit the city around 4pm, forcing people to stay indoors.

The city streets and markets were virtually deserted.

Reduced visibility also created difficulty for motorists on highways.

A weatherman said the dust storm was caused by an atmospheric low pressure moving over Oman and Saudi Arabia and extending to the UAE.

He said Al Ain was the hottest city in the country, followed by Liwa with a maximum temperature of 47 degree Celsius.
