Abu Dhabi: It is illegal to collect the eggs of wild birds, the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) has warned residents.

“Did you know that some islands in Abu Dhabi serve as vital breeding grounds for migratory terns during the hot summer months? Let’s work together to protect these beautiful birds. Avoid collecting eggs and report any such activity to the Abu Dhabi Government at 800555,” EAD posted on its X account.

The post carried a notice that said Federal Law No. 24 of 1999 prohibits hunting, capturing or harming wild birds and their nests.

Violating this law can result in imprisonment and fines ranging from Dh2,000 to Dh20,000.
