Gesture a way of giving back to the homeland, resident says

Ras Al Khaimah: An Emirati has donated Dh250,000 for the express purpose of greening a street in Ras Al Khaimah, saying the gesture is his way of showing his heartfelt gratitude to his country and emirate.
Ali Eisa Al Mutawa'a, a resident of the Southern Al Dhaid area, is sponsoring 650 trees to be planted along the gateway to the emirate. The trees will be planted along the four-kilometre stretch of road stretching from the RAK Police headquarters to the Zayed Commercial Centre.
Al Mutawa'a said the green idea had been on his mind for quite some time as a way of thanking his country and his emirate. He stressed that the UAE government has always offered Emiratis a lot in all aspects of life and called on fellow Emiratis to think about how they could show their gratitude to the government.
Al Mutawa'a has already bought 300 palms, 300 trees locally known as ‘Shareesh' and another 50 trees bearing citrus fruits and it is expected that the work of planting these will take a couple of weeks.
Al Mutawa'a has already obtained the necessary approvals for the venture from Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ras Al Khaimah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler, who encouraged him with his project. He has also taken permissions and approvals from the emirate's concerned departments.
He has already employed tens of labourers to work on his project and has been personally involved in the planting operations.
The budget for the project is estimated at Dh250,000 and provides for a central platform along the street to support the trees and an irrigation system.
Al Mutawa'a called on all Ras Al Khaimah residents to help green the emirate and thus further its appeal to visitors from all over the world.
