Emirates Internet and Multimedia is having a month-long promotion for new subscribers to the Internet dial up service.

The offer, which lasts until April 15, will see new customers saving the registration fee of Dh100 in addition to receiving free basic training on PCs and the Internet.

Organised in association with HumanSoft, the IT training provider, the programme will consist of one four-hour session and offer subscribers the essential knowledge required to enable them to use their PC and Internet connection.

Topics will cover an introduction to PC navigation, Web browsing, portals (including EIM's AlBahhar and HumanSoft's E-learning), search engines and all e-mail related basics. "Internet Dial Up still has a wide customer base in the UAE," said Maroua Naim, general manager of EIM.

"Many people prefer this access method being an affordable option when their use is limited to simple applications like e-mail and Web browsing. Today's offer is an excellent opportunity for those who have yet to subscribe to the Internet.

"It combines cost savings and knowledge acquisition from a reputable firm in the area of IT training. For EIM, this offer is yet more evidence of our commitment to educate the UAE community on a technology that is increasingly becoming vital to everyone in today's highly competitive environment."

According to the offer, new subscribers need to visit the nearest Etisalat office to apply for the service and to receive their free training vouchers.

To avail the free training session, customers need to call HumanSoft hotline to register at any of the designated training centres in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah.

Subscribers of dial-up pay a monthly rental charge of Dh20 in addition to usage charges that are rated Dh1.8 per peak hour and Dh1 per off-peak hour.
