UAE: 73-year-old Sharjah woman dies after being hit by reversing truck

Sharjah: A 73-year-old woman died after a municipality worker accidentally reversed his truck over her in Sharjah, police said on Friday.

The accident happened at the woman’s home in Al Sabka area on Wednesday morning, a Sharjah Police official said. It is understood that the woman, from Comoros Island, was standing behind the truck and the driver did not see her. The driver reversed and hit her as he reversed his truck. He realised something was wrong after hearing her family members screaming.

The woman was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital’s emergency section at around 11am, where she was announced dead.

Wasit Police Station is investigating the case.
