Free training on basic e-mail and internet applications will be offered to citizens and residents who sign up with the eCitizen programme by tomorrow.

Dubai residents are offered free computer literacy training offered on a first-come-first-served basis, through the different computer schools in the emirate. The seven-day registration for free instruction kicked off on March 19.

eCitizen is an instructor-led, cost-effective training programme exclusively designed for Dubai residents as part of the Dubai e-Government initiative.

The programme seeks to increase the level of e-literacy among the general public with basic lessons in e-mail and internet covering 16 hours (including 10 hours on e-services).

It also aims to increase awareness and the use of Dubai Government's online services. The portal www.dubai.ae is a single contact point guiding access to all services of the Dubai e-Government.

A key benefit of the eCitizen programme is increased familiarity with the different online services offered by different Dubai government departments. Dubai eGovt is a pioneering initiative across the region providing online services to both companies and communities in the emirate.
