Abu Dhabi: The Pakistani Embassy will be hosting a fundraiser for a Pakistani school in Mussafah, which has been facing financial problems.

The date of the event and the venue are yet to be announced. Dr Qaiser Anees, President of the Pakistan Business Council, made the announcement at a reception in honour of Mohammad Hassan, a senior diplomat leaving the Pakistani embassy for a new assignment.

Dr Anees said, "The Pakistani embassy has asked us to support the school as it requires financial and organisational help. The council will offer its full support to a fundraising event for the school."

"The Council Executive Committee has approved supporting the fundraising event for the Pakistani school in Mussafah. I request all members to come forward and attend the function and to contribute generously."

The school is a non-profit institution established by community social workers. The embassy took over the management of the school from the community several years ago.

In his speech, Dr Anees praised Hassan for his support of the council and for his dedication to diplomatic activities that serve the community. He said, "Mohammad Hassan joined the Council Executive Committee on December 12, 2005, and since then he actively participated in all activities and helped us in achieving the objectives of the council."
