Gold jewellery donated by 25 national women in Abu Dhabi for the Palestinian cause is on display and for sale.
The three-day exhibition, which started yesterday, has been organised by the Red Crescent Society in cooperation with the central branch of the Abu Dhabi Women's Association. Proceeds from the sale of the jewellery will be sent to the Palestinians.
Sheikha Thani Al Murar, Director General of the society's donors' department, said that the exhibition is for women only. "The aim is to sell all the gold jewellery donated by UAE women for their Palestinian brothers."
"We are planning to sell all the displayed products during the exhibition. If there is anything left, it will be displayed at a charity auction for gold traders," she said.
She explained that these items had been collected during the campaign called "For your sake Quds" which was part of a live charity campaign on Abu Dhabi Television.
"All the money that we will collect from selling these items will go towards the Red Crescent Society, which will send it to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and other charity organisations in Palestine to help our brothers in their crisis," she added.
