Chairman of the technical committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, Dr Arif Al Sheikh, confirmed that the objectives of the award is to graduate well qualified competitors to represent the UAE in similar international contests, and also to qualify some of them to be members in the local and international Quran competition judging panels.

He said that the committee organising the award asks the advice of Muslim clerics who have international experience in judging such competitions.

There are international criteria on the basis of which members of the judging committee are selected. The member must be fully aware of the four Quran recitings, and he must learn Quran by heart, and have taken part in local or international Quran competitions.

Dr Al Sheikh explained that the system adopted by Dubai International Holy Quran Award won the admiration of all members of the judging committee who took part in judging the previous four competitions held in Dubai.

Dubai International Holy Quran Award sponsors important Holy Quran competitions at local and international levels. In the international competition, different countries, including the UAE, are requested to nominate one competitor.

In local competitions the matter is left to the Quran memorising centre to nominate competitors who are from different nationalities. In international competitions, every competitor is subject to an initial test.
