Dubai:Two drug dealers have been arrested in Dubai for selling controlled drugs, police said on Tuesday.

Dubai Police’s anti-narcotics department on May 13 arrested two Asian men in the Deira on charges of possession and selling banned drugs.

Police said the two suspects were arrested in a sting operation by police. The first suspect identified as S.R.H., 25 who is married and lives in Sharjah, was arrested while handing over 2,490 tablets to the second suspect.

The second suspect was identified as A.D, Kh., 30, who is unemployed and who also lives in Sharjah with his family.

Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi Mohammad Al Asmawi, Director of the General Department for Drug Control in Dubai Police, said that the operation to arrest the suspects was successful due to several factors including the accurate information received by police.

“A police team went to the place where the defendant was planning to deliver the pills but the first defendant changed his location fearing the police might be there.”

The suspect changed the meeting with buyers from Port Saeed to Jamal Abdul Nasser Square in Deira. The suspects went to the place and handed the drugs over to undercover police.
