Dubai Police nab kidnappers who held businessman hostage
Dubai: Police arrested a gang of 10 people who kidnapped a businessman and demanded a ransom of Dh128,000 from his son.
Naif Police Station had received a report on December 14 from an Indian man A.M. who reported that his father had been kidnapped by a group of Indian and Sri Lankan men. He reported that he had received a call from one of his friends as he was back in India.
A.M. came to the country and found out that his father was kidnapped after calling a man identified as M. who had business relationships with his father.
M. told A.M. that he has to pay Dh128,000 for his father's release or else the gang would kill him.
A.M. signed a cheque for the gang. He handed it to one of the office boys to hand it to the gang in Al Satwa.
Cheque bounced
The gang received the cheque, but it bounced when they tried to deposit it, as there was no balance in the account. They forced the hostage to sign another cheque of Dh139,000, but it also bounced.
Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), formed a team and within hours, they were able to identify the location of the gang and the location where the hostage was kept.
The team set a trap in cooperation with the hostage's son.
He agreed to give the gang a ransom of Dh120,000 to release his father.
On December 14, at 10pm, the CID team spread near the bus station in Al Satwa.
The team monitored the entrances and exits of the area and arrested one Indian man and two Sri Lankan men.
The three men then guided police to the rest of the gang members. Police arrested them on the same night.
The hostage was freed and taken to hospital.
The gang confessed to their crime were referred to the public prosecution.
I respect and salute Dubai Police for their work.

Good work Dubai Police. The criminals should be punished for playing with other people's lives. This way, others won't even think of doing such things again.

I always carry my wallet with me. I do not leave it in the car. Whenever I withdraw money, I always go to the same ATM and make sure there are no suspicious looking people around me.

I congratulate Dubai Police for their efforts. I appreciate the low crime in UAE. The gangmen got to think twice before doing such stupid crimes.
