Defendant tells court he was too drunk to recall what happened
Dubai A cleaner claimed in court on Thursday that he was too drunk to remember whether he had sex with his male colleague or not.
The 31-year-old Pakistani cleaner, M.Y., was said to have forced himself on his 22-year-old Nepalese colleague and had sex with him against his will while he was sleeping.
“I was very drunk. I do not remember what happened,” argued M.Y. when he entered a not guilty plea before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
According to the charge-sheet, prosecutors said the suspect pinned his sleeping colleague down to bed and removed his dress and raped him.
“Where you conscious or aware of what you were doing?” presiding judge Ezzat Abdul Lat asked the defendant.
“I had too many drinks and was too drunk to remember what happened that day,” replied M.Y.
The Nepalese testified to prosecutors that the incident happened shortly after their friends left the room and he went to sleep in January.
“The defendant was dinking alcohol… surprisingly he jumped on me and prevented me from moving. Then he raped me over 15 minutes. I tried to run away but he had me pinned down to the bed all the time,” the Nepalese claimed to prosecutors.
A policeman testified to prosecutors that the suspect was heavily drunk at the time of his arrest.
The suspect was cited admitting during prosecution questioning that he was too drunk to realise what he did and denied raping the Nepalese.
The trial continues.
