Dubai: A mechanic asked a court yesterday to grant him time to reconcile with a security guard whom he admitted to assaulting in a dispute over filling diesel.

Prosecutors charged the 22-year-old Syrian mechanic with beating the 29-year-old Bangladeshi security guard and causing him injuries.

"I am guilty your honour. Yes I did beat him. But please I request for an adjournment to apologise to him and obtain a waiver," argued the mechanic, A.K., when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

Prosecutors said the suspect caused 29-year-old M.I., a permanent disability.

Dubai Police's forensic doctors confirmed that M.I. sustained 3 per cent permanent disability in his lips and lost two teeth.
