Abu Dhabi Police arrested the government employee for accepting bribes of up to Dh10,000
Abu Dhabi: Police in the capital arrested a man who took advantage of his job by facilitating customers’ transactions in return for a bribe.
Colonel Matar Mu’ded Al Muhairi, Head of the Anti-Corruption Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said police initially received a tip-off about an Arab employee working in an Abu Dhabi government department, who took bribes between Dh2,000 and Dh10,000.
The bribes were used to speed up customers’ transactions.
After the tip-off was proved to be correct and the necessary legal measures were taken, the defendant was caught red-handed, interrogated and referred to the judicial authorities for legal action.
Al Muhairi urged residents to report any practices of corruption to Abu Dhabi Police on its Aman service either by phone on 800 2626 or text message at 2828.
