Clerk mysteriously goes missing in Sharjah

Ajman: Police are searching for a 41-year-old man who went missing after arriving at Sharjah airport a week ago.

Police said that Thomas Kunjamma Nainan, an Indian, arrived on an Indian airline flight on Friday night from Kerala.

Police said that Nainan who has been living here for 12 years works as an archives clerk for a contracting company in Ajman.

No response

A friend of the missing man told Gulf News that Nainan went missing and his family in India tried to contact him, but got no response.

The friend said that Nainan's employers are searching for him.

"Ajman police were informed and the case of missing man reported at Al Madeena police station," a friend of the missing man told Gulf News.

Police said that the man returned to the country after a two-month vacation in Kerala.

"When we try to call Nainan's mobile phone someone else respond. His mobile is being used by a person who speaks Arabic but not fluently," a police official said.

The missing man's friends said the Arab man who answers Nainan's mobile phone always shouts and curses back when they call the number.

Police also said they are trying to trace the mobile phone's signal.

The friend said that Nainan's wife and children are worried and have no idea what had happened tohim.

No enemies

The friend said that Nainan is working legally for a company and had just got his visa renewed.

"He does not have enemies," the friend said.

Police said anyone with information can immediately contact Ajman police.
