Chinar Super League cricket championship set to kick off in Sharjah in February

Dubai: The Chinar Super League (CSL), a popular community tennis ball cricket tournament is all set to take place in February with focus on environmental sustainability.

The seventh season of the league will be played in Sharjah on February 7th, 8th, and 9th, with 16 teams vying for the coveted title.

Raja Asad Khalid, the coordinator for CSL, shared exciting details about the upcoming season, which promises to be not only a thrilling community cricketing event but also an opportunity to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues.

For a cause

“This season, Chinar Super League is not just about cricket; it’s for a cause. It’s about bringing people together for common causes, with a strong focus on climate awareness and sustainable solutions for environmental challenges,” said Khalid at a press conference in Dubai.

“We are expanding our reach and, through initiatives like tree planting campaigns, we aim to make CSL an institution that actively contributes to society.”

As part of CSL’s environmental commitment, the league will focuse on several initiatives aimed at reducing plastic usage and combating environmental degradation. This includes a major tree-planting drive, with at least 500 trees set to be planted as part of this year’s campaign

16 teams

The tournament will feature 16 teams competing over the course of three days in Sharjah, bringing together community members from across the region.

During the press conference, several key community figures were present to show their support for the league. Chairman of CSL Raja Mohammad Ashiq Khan, Raja Mohammad Khan, Sadiq Iqbal Abassi, Sardar Ayaz Khan, Asad Hashmi, Osama Jabar, President of Chinar Wing Amjad Kabir, and Director of Sports Chinar Super League Naqash Riaz all expressed their enthusiasm for the event and its new initiatives.

Bringing people together

Sardar Sajid Iqbal Abbasi, one of the prominent supporters of CSL, spoke proudly of the league’s expansion and its environmental focus: “I am incredibly proud to support Chinar Super League, which has become a powerful platform for bringing people together.”

Raja Muhammad Khan, one of the main supporters, said: “We’ve been supporting CSL since 2018 and are proud to continue our partnership. Over the last six seasons, CSL has become a highly successful event, and we are committed to supporting it now and in the future.”
