It has seen generations of the Ruling family of Dubai grow, along with the Emirate, as development took root and spread. It has been a silent witness to the decades of change that has watched Dubai metamorphose into a thriving hub of technology, commerce and tourism.
Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House was home to key decision-makers, nurturing and protecting while they plotted the progression of Dubai. Located along the creek in the Shindagha area, the house has been rebuilt to its former glory and acts as a conduit into the Emirate's past.
Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the late Ruler of Dubai, took the first step of restoring the structure, originally built in 1896 by his grandfather Sheikh Maktoum bin Hasher in the late Seventies.
Abdulla Jassim, Marketing Department, Dubai Tourism and Commerce, which is managing the daily working of the house, said: "Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House is the first building for which restoration was started by the Al Maktoum family.
