Hundreds of Indian expatriates gathered at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Sunday morning to celebrate the Indian Republic Day.

T.P Seetharam, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, hoisted the national flag and read out the excerpts from the Indian President's address to the nation.

Presence of a large number of Indian labourers was noticeable at the event.

As the embassy premises could not accommodate the overwhelming number of people, many of then had to watch the flag hoisting from outside the gate of the embassy.

But soon after the event, the Ambassador walked out of the gate and interacted with the labourers.

Similar flag-hoisting ceremonies were organised at the Indian Social and Cultural Centre in Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Indian School on Sunday morning.
