The unique art exhibition showcases the work of four female artists from the Gulf

Hunna Art, a contemporary art gallery founded in 2021 has teamed up with Raffles The Palm Dubai, for an exhibition of works of four Gulf-based artists. Eman Ali, Talin Hazbar, Alymamah Rashed and Alia Zaal embody the region’s evolving contemporary art scene, and express their creativity in their own unique ways.
The exhibition, which runs until March 23, 2022, will unfold in four chapters with the aim to create an artistic dialogue with the hotel’s magnificent architecture.
As part of the “My Palm Fronds Breathe (̶F̶o̶r̶ ̶Y̶o̶u̶)̶” chapter, Alymamah Rashed will explore “the sensation of the spirit’s yearning to reside in a celestial home of eternity”. This drawings, paintings and watercolours created by the artist are a manifestation of her observations of everyday life in Kuwait, bolstered by her spiritual epiphanies along the way.
The “Through Her Eyes” chapter will demonstrate Alia Zaal’s curiosity to find the relationship between photography and painting. Alia’s early work was centered around a self-portrait, which manifested itself in a deconstructed form of the original image. This resulted in distorted, oneiric portraits. Alia is also presenting new portraits on wooden panels, which reference photographs from her personal archives, as well as historic portraits from end of the 19th century.
Talin Hazbar`, meanwhile, is presenting ‘Stones in Silence’, which comprises two installations that capture the essence of her research spanning four years. Placed in Raffles Club Lounge, the first installation is created from natural elements, including stones from the UAE. The second installation converges five profile casts from her series ‘In her Courtyard’.
Finally, “Corridors of Power'', an installation by Eman Ali, is an ode to her homeland Oman. Eman portrays herself in the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in her country, in a series of auto-portraits that showcase her in different poses and emotional states. From curious to playful to empowered, to contemplative, while keeping her presence slight.
Founded by Océane Sailly, Hunna art gallery represents female artists based in the Gulf.
