Dubai: Elon Musk has made Grok 3, the latest and most advanced artificial intelligence model from xAI, available for free to all users.

Previously exclusive to Premium Plus subscribers on X (formerly Twitter), Grok 3 is now accessible to everyone, as confirmed by the company. xAI posted a message saying, “This is it: The world’s smartest AI, Grok 3, now available for free (until our servers melt).” The post also mentioned that Premium+ and SuperGrok users would receive additional access, along with early features like Voice Mode.

However, the free access is only available for a limited time. This announcement follows just a day after the official launch of Grok 3, which Musk and the xAI team claim is 10 times more powerful than its predecessor, Grok 2.

Musk introduced Grok 3 as an AI model designed to perform advanced reasoning, conduct in-depth research, and handle creative tasks.

“The mission of xAI and Grok is to understand the universe, the nature of the universe so we can figure out what is going on, where the aliens are,” Musk said.

While Grok 3 is currently available for free during its beta phase, users will eventually need to pay for the Super Grok subscription tier, which provides early access to xAI’s latest features and advancements.

How can users access Grok 3?

Elon Musk's xAI offers Grok 3 to users via an iOS app and its dedicated website. Additionally, Grok 3 is accessible on X, with Premium users enjoying exclusive access to its features. Super Grok can be accessed via the Grok app as well as the website at grok.com.

Grok 3: The Smartest AI on Earth

Elon Musk's AI startup, xAI, unveiled the updated Grok-3 model, claiming it to be the "smartest AI on Earth." According to xAI, Grok-3 outperforms top AI models like Google Gemini, DeepSeek's V3, Anthropic's Claude, and OpenAI's GPT-4 in math, science, and coding benchmarks. Grok-3 has over 10 times the computing power of its predecessor and completed pre-training in early January. Musk emphasised continuous improvements to the model, with updates every day.

xAI also introduced a new smart search engine, DeepSearch, a reasoning chatbot for research, brainstorming, and data analysis. Grok-3 is available to Premium+ subscribers on X, with a new subscription called SuperGrok launching for the Grok app and website.

The release intensifies competition with OpenAI, with Musk criticizing OpenAI’s direction and filing lawsuits over its shift to for-profit. xAI is raising funds and is in talks to secure $10 billion, while OpenAI seeks $40 billion.

Both companies are working on expanding AI infrastructure, with xAI in talks with Dell Technologies for AI-optimized servers. Meanwhile, new competitors like DeepSeek, a Chinese AI firm, have emerged with open-source models that challenge US AI leaders on performance and cost.
