The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format from September 9 to 28 in the UAE, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi confirmed on Saturday.

The announcement followed the ACC’s recent meeting in Dhaka, where the BCCI participated virtually.

Naqvi, who also serves as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), shared the news on X, stating: “I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! Detailed schedule will be out soon. #CricketWins”

Tournament shifted from India to UAE

Although India holds the official hosting rights, the tournament has been relocated to the UAE due to ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. Matches are expected to be held across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

Top teams set to clash

The eight-team competition will feature India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. India, the defending champions, claimed the 2023 title in a 50-over final against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

With the tournament structure likely to include India and Pakistan in the same group, fans could witness the arch-rivals facing off up to three times — in the group stage, Super Fours, and possibly the final.

The 2025 Asia Cup will also serve as a key preparation platform for the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
