Abu Dhabi: Captain of the Ajman Titans, Moeen Ali, says the UAE is rapidly cementing its place as a premier global cricket destination. “The UAE has truly become a global cricket hub, and tournaments like the Abu Dhabi T10 are a perfect example of that. The facilities are world-class, and the passion for the sport grows every year. It’s exciting to be part of something that’s putting UAE cricket on the map and drawing top players from around the world,” the former England all-rounder remarked.

The eight-team tournament, beginning on November 18, will open with Quetta Qavalry facing Northern Warriors, followed by defending champions Deccan Gladiators taking on Delhi Bulls.

On Monday, the ‘Global Legends’ and ‘Icon’ players from all eight franchises gathered at Zayed Cricket Stadium ahead of the competition. Among them were Kieron Pollard (UAE Bulls), Thisara Perera (Northern Warriors), Angelo Mathews (Royal Champs), Faf du Plessis (Vista Riders), Sam Billings (Aspin Stallions), Thisara Periera (Quetta Qavalry), Nicholas Pooran (Deccan Gladiators), and Moeen Ali.

Rise of local talent

Kieron Pollard of the UAE Bulls expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s fantastic to see local talent rising, and being part of this tournament alongside them is something special. I’m looking forward to playing with the likes of Rohid.”

Across 12 action-packed days, the tournament will feature 32 matches in cricket’s fastest format, where each side bats for just 10 overs, producing explosive 90-minute encounters. The opening match sees new entrants Quetta Qavalry take on Northern Warriors, followed by an exciting showdown between the Deccan Gladiators and the UAE Bulls.

“I’ve always loved playing cricket in the UAE. I’ve been coming here since I was very young, and it holds a special place in my cricketing journey. The conditions, the atmosphere, the fans — everything just feels right. It’s like a home away from home, and I’m always excited to play in this region,” said Nicholas Pooran, captain of the Deccan Gladiators.

The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing every other side during the group stage. After the 28 league matches, the top four teams on the points table will move on to the playoffs.

The playoffs begin on Saturday, November 29 with Qualifier 1 (1st vs 2nd) and the Eliminator (3rd vs 4th). On Sunday, November 30, the winner of the Eliminator will face the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2, followed by the final later that day.
