Godolphin stable acquire Brazil's Horse of the Year
Dubai: Godolphin have acquired 2005-06 Brazilian Horse of the Year, Dono da Raia. The horse was owned by Stud Mictik.
The four-year-old Hibernian Rhapsody (Ire) colt was shipped to London on Friday after the sale, Brazilian film director Joao Daniel Tikhomiroff said.
Tikhomiroff campaigned Dono da Raia in Brazil with co-owner Michael Perlman.
International bloodstock agent Samir Abujamra brokered the deal for Dono da Raia, who has won five of nine starts. He won Brazil's top honour as the country's champion three-year-old male and champion stayer.
Previously trained by Antonio Luiz Pereira Cintra, Dono da Raia became Brazil's biggest racing star this summer after impressive victories in the Grade 1 Grande Premio Sao Paulo and Grade 1 Grande Premio Brasil.
