Dubai: The UAE Hockey Committee (UAEHC) has decided to revive league matches which have been irregular due to the absence of a hockey ground.

The league is being organised at the new IAT hockey ground in Al Qusais. Following the announcement from the UAEHC, 12 teams have already registered to participate in the event.

"The league will run till February 20 and we will be delighted if all the hockey lovers in the UAE would come out and watch the action," said Ali Al Sharaf, who has been appointed as the head of the competition committee of the UAEHC.

To encourage hockey-playing among nationals at grass-roots level, the Dubai School Agency is fielding a team consisting of only young UAE nationals.

All matches will be played on Fridays from 9am to 5pm.
