Kalle Samooja (Fin) shot a final round 64 to win the €1.75 million Porsche European Open played over the North Course at Green Eagle Golf Courses, Hamburg, Germany on the DP World Tour.

An eight birdie, no bogey, new course record round with no placing today (Sunday), saw Samooja move up 21 places in the final round to secure his first victory on the DP World Tour.

Samooja teed off in Match 25 at 10.55 am, a full two hours and five minutes before the final tee time and posted a score that the others could not match. He just waited in the Clubhouse to watch on television as all the challengers fell short.

It was the round of the day by Samooja by a clear three shots that saw him win by one shot from Will Besseling (Netherlands) with a 72-hole total of 282, six under par.

Excellent weather

The 34 year-old’s previous best finish was tied 5th in the 2022 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club. A graduate of the Challenge Tour he won the 2018 Hainan Open on the DP World Tour’s Development Tour to get his full playing privileges on the 2019 DP World Tour.

The toughness of the course was illustrated with the statistic that just 15 players beat the par of 288 over four rounds, with excellent weather all week.

Dubai-based Spaniards, Adri Arnaus shot a three under par 69, with an eagle on the 72nd hole to finish in tied 16th, with Adrian Otaegui a further shot back after a final round 71 in tied 18th.
