Dubai: Dubai's leading asset management group, Wasl, has joined forces with "Golf in Dubai" by becoming a co-sponsor of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and the Dubai Desert Classic.

Owned by Dubai Real Estate Corporation, Wasl was established to strengthen the success of Dubai by managing its extensive portfolio of assets in the residential, commercial, hospitality and leisure sectors. Their new partnership with Golf in Dubai — the promoters and organisers of the premier golf events — is a reflection of Wasl's commitment to support community initiatives and the broader goals of the Dubai government.

Over the years, the Dubai Ladies Masters and the Dubai Desert Classic have become a byword for excellence, as witnessed by the roll call of the champions. From Tiger Woods, Ernie Els to Annika Sorenstam, several high-profile winners have left their indelible imprints on the fast-changing golfing landscape of Dubai.

And the script is only getting better with time. Boasting a leisure portfolio that includes the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and the Emirates Golf Club, Wasl has played its role to perfection by presenting courses in top conditions and catering to players of all skills.

Designed by Karl Litten, the Majlis course at the Emirates Golf Club is the home of the two premier events and has been a catalyst in the dramatic growth of golf in Dubai since its inception in 1988.

Joining the family

Hesham Abdullah Al Qasim, CEO of Wasl and Dubai Real Estate Corporation, said: "We are delighted to join Golf in Dubai family of sponsors and to be a part of two prestigious events, the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and the Dubai Desert Classic. Our sponsorship falls in line with our commitment to support different community initiatives.

"Today, the name of Dubai has become synonymous with golf — and a great deal of the city's popularity as a golf destination is due to the overwhelming success of events like the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies Masters.

"Naturally we are excited to join the Golf in Dubai family of sponsors and hope our association will scale new heights in years to come as we share the common objective of promoting the brand Dubai."
