Onuonga shines in monthly medal

Dubai: John Onuonga (24) shot an impressive nett 67 to have the round of the day in the recent Rivoli Monthly Medal at Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

Onuonga took the B Division title with his round that reduces his handicap to 21.

His card included nines of 45 and 46 and included 3 pars but also included triple bogeys on holes 9 and 16. Others to walk to the prize table included husband and wife Iain Everingham (10) and Francoise Everingham (20) winning Division A and Ladies Nett Division with net 71 and 69 respectively.

Eddie Ramage with a 79 won the men's gross title and Adele McKelvey with a 76 clinched the ladies crown.

Adele's round, having started on hole 17 in this shotgun format included 2 birdies on the front nine in a gross 35 and 4 bogies and a double on hole 12 for a 41 back nine.

On a day of surprisingly average scoring, with only Ramage and McKelvey beating the 80 gross barrier, Ramage had a three-shot winning margin in his division despite a horrific 6 - 8 run on holes 13 and 14 against the par of 5 - 4, but impressed with his back to back birdies on holes 16 and 17.
