Dubai: Organisers of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) are expecting the inaugural CEO Masters Dubai 2014 to further fuel the emirate’s ambition to become a top sports and business destination in the region.

Speaking at the announcement of the first CEO Masters golf to be played at the Dubai Creek on February 13, Dr Ahmad Sa’ad Al Sharif, general secretary, DSC, told media that such a high-level golf tournament will definitely add to the profile of Dubai as a sports and business destination.

“We will have 100 decision-makers from some of the top companies and there can be no better platform for networking than such an event,” Al Sharif told media on Wednesday.

“We are organising this competition for the top-level officials from the corporate sector to celebrate the recent success and growth of Dubai-based organisations.”

Players will be split into teams of two and play in a better-ball stableford format over 18 holes.

Registration will commence at 11am and the competition will get underway with a shotgun start at 1pm. The day will conclude with a gala dinner, where players will have the opportunity to network.

Adil Al Bannai from DSC said that the golf tournament is a result of a survey conducted by the council.

“This golf tournament is definitely a part of our strategy in fostering a healthy community. Perhaps we were not catering to a section of society involving such important people as CEOs of companies. But now with this golf tournament we will have a full band of influential people chasing a healthy lifestyle,” Al Sharif said.
