Alexander Isak has put Newcastle in quandary after announcing his intentions to leave the Premier League club.

Newcastle United star striker Alexander Isak said he wants to explore a move away from the club this summer, reported by Daily Mail. Other journalists later picked up the news. Newcastle United’s squad have travelled to Singapore for pre-season, but Isak hasn’t travelled and Newcastle said it is due to a thigh injury. However, we can all sense that it’s just a cover-up. It is clear that Isak has been unsettled with all the news surrounding him.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and the club have insisted on many occasions that Isak is not for sale. There are also reports stating that he wants £300,000 per week to extend his current contract, which runs until 2028. Newcastle won’t be able to pay such high fees for the Swede, and this has put them in a real quandary. Their other striker target, Ekitike, is already a Liverpool player. Joao Pedro moved to Chelsea. Brentford’s Wissa bid was rejected. If Isak leaves, they will have to recruit two strikers, deepining their problem.

What’s in Isak’s mind?

That Liverpool news has clearly unsettled him. Liverpool are ready to offer £120 million to sign him. He can compete for the biggest prizes at Liverpool. Newcastle have an ambitious project, but a chance to play for Liverpool is something that unsettles every player’s mind. But Liverpool have already spent a lot in this transfer window after signing Ekitike. Can they afford Isak now? Yes, they can. If they sell Luis Diaz for big money and let Darwin Nunez leave, they can definitely afford Isak.

Apart from Liverpool, where can he go realistically? Saudi is an option, but he is not actively looking for a Saudi move now, according to Fabrizio Romano. Arsenal have signed Gyokeres, Chelsea have Delap and Joao Pedro (also Chelsea won’t be ready to pay his wages), Barcelona don’t have the finances.

Real Madrid can go for him if needed. PSG will have the finances . Manchester United are looking for a striker, but will he want to move to a team trying to get back on their feet after the fall? If he wants to stay in the Premier League, Liverpool are the only option. Newcastle will still be hoping to keep him, somehow. We have to wait and see.
