Cristiano Ronaldo has added another accolade to his illustrious career, receiving a Guinness World Record plaque for the most international victories in football.
The Portugal captain set the record last November during a commanding 5-1 win over Poland, where he scored twice to secure his 132nd international victory, surpassing former teammate Sergio Ramos.
Ahead of Portugal’s Nations League quarter-final second leg against Denmark at the Estádio José Alvalade, Ronaldo was officially recognised for his achievement. This honour joins a long list of Guinness World Records the five-time Ballon d’Or winner already holds, including most international goals, the first player to score 100 UEFA Champions League goals, and being the most-followed person on Instagram.
The wins have been spread across Ronaldo's 217 caps for Portugal, a record for the 2016 Euros winners.
Ronaldo’s landmark night didn’t end there. In a dramatic match, he both missed a penalty and scored as Portugal overcame Denmark to advance to the Nations League semi-finals.
The veteran striker’s 72nd-minute goal put Portugal ahead 2-1 on the night, helping his team secure a 5-3 aggregate victory after extra time.
