Al Wasl will play without Iranian strikers Farhad Majidi [suspended] and Ali Redha Wahidi, who is injured, in their League match against Al Ittihad at Kalba Stadium today.
"Farhad has picked up three yellow cards and will serve a one-match suspension. Also, Wahidi needs 10 days of rest following his injury in the last League match against Al Ahli," Al Wasl coach Vinko Begovic told Gulf News yesterday.
Begovic said he would field local strikers in today's match in place of Farhad and Wahidi.
"I have a lot of options. I have four players who can fit in properly. I have Juma Darwish, Hamad Gulam, Ahmad Fairuz and Tarek Hassan. Any two of them will do the job perfectly."
The Croatian coach refused to speculate on his team's away match today against Al Ittihad who are 10th on the table.
Instead, Begovic said: "There are no easy matches in the League. We all saw the defeats Al Jazira and Al Wahda had last week.
"We will enter today's match and will fight to win three points, even though Al Ittihad are in the 10th place and compared to them we are topping the League."
Al Wasl are now one place above Al Ittihad with 12 points from 10 matches. There are 11 points separating them from the top team.
"We are not in a hurry to compete for the title. I am building a team which can be capable of winning titles in the coming years.
"Most of our team are under 22 and we have one experienced player, the skipper Esmail Rashid who is 33.
"I think the future will belong to Al Wasl. We have many talented players."
