Dubai: Mikael Silvestre’s stint with Chennaiyin in the Indian Super League meant he got to rub shoulders with one of the most famous men in India.
Indian one-day cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also skippers the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and is a co-owner of the city’s ISL franchise.
And Silvestre revealed to Gulf News exactly why the two hit it off. “He is a big [Manchester] United fan, so we had something in common,” said the Frenchman, who made 249 appearances for the English giants between 1999 and 2008.
“He came to a few games, which was great, because he is a big name and the Chennai team is doing so well in the IPL. He was telling me about his next three months, when he will be away with the national team in Australia.
“He is a great owner to have on board for sure.”
