Abu Dhabi: Boris Kabi was in a class of his own as he scored a hat-trick to lead Ajman to their first victory in the etisalat Pro-League this season, trouncing lowly Al Ittihad 6-1 on Friday.
In Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra settled for a 1-1 tie at home to Al Shabab, with Makhete Diop scoring for the home team in the 35th minute and Luiz Henrique equalising for the visitors in the 61st.
Al Dhafra now have nine points from six matches, while Al Shabab have only five.
Ajman, playing at home, took an early lead when defender Saleh Basheer placed a corner into the net after only two minutes, his first goal for the club since joining them from Al Jazira at the start of the season.
Nabil Al Daoudi levelled for the visitors in the 16th minute — only his club’s third goal in six matches — but their joy was short lived as Kabi put his team back into the lead just after the half-hour.
Kabi added his team’s third soon after half-time, before Founeke Sy added the fourth and Kabi completed his hat-trick in quick succession.
Sy showed his dazzling ball control capabilities as he went past four defenders before scoring his team’s sixth and final goal in the 71st minute.
Ajman increased their tally to five points, while Al Ittihad are yet to win their first point this season.
