First Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship kicks off in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: Under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the first World Championship in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for professionals kicked off on Friday in Abu Dhabi.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.

Over 222 athletes from 32 countries are participating in the championship organised by the Armed Forces Officer's Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation.
