Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday shared a video showing the transformation of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which will host matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The video, which is over two minutes takes you through the journey of the renovation.
PCB were under massive pressure on getting the stadiums ready in time for elite eight-team event.
“Unveiling the stunning new-look Gaddafi Stadium! Under the lights, it's a sight to behold! ONE WORD to describe your excitement after seeing this breathtaking view? We can't wait to welcome fans, officials and teams for the tri-nation series & #ChampionsTrophy @ICC @ICCMediaComms,” wrote PCB on their X account as they shared the video with their fans.
The Champions Trophy is set to begin from February 19 and will be hosted across Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
The matches involving India will be played in UAE after both the nations agreed upon a hybrid model.
In a press release from PCB, it stated that the renovation will ensure the spectators will be brought closer to the action as enclosures move 20 feet forward. New imported seats, cutting-edge high-res replay screens and other upgrades will ensure a premium match-day experience for the cricket enthusiastic supporters.
The stadium’s advanced floodlight towers, screens, and chairs will be repurposed for other venues, raising the bar for cricket venues nationwide. Floodlight towers are set to boast latest LED lights in order to enhance the quality of live broadcasts, ensuring a brighter viewing experience for fans around the world.
Talking to media at the construction site on Wednesday, PCB Director of Infrastructure Qazi Jawwad Ahmad said: “Around-the-clock efforts on redesign and renovations have PCB confident of meeting the 31 December deadline.
“Under the leadership of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Gaddafi Stadium is being elevated into a world-class venue, enhancing the fan experience and setting new standards for cricket in Pakistan.
“Spectator capacity at Gaddafi Stadium will increase from 21,500 to over 34,000 as part of PCB's redesign plans.”
