Dubai: The Pakistan Super League X, which was moved to the UAE due to the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, is expected to resume within a week, according to sources.

Discussions are still in the early stages, with venue and scheduling details yet to be finalised. However, the source said organisers are hopeful of restarting the tournament shortly.

The Pakistan Cricket Board officially moved the remainder of the PSL to the UAE on Friday. “The PCB today confirms that the remaining fixtures of the HBL PSL X have been shifted to the UAE. The last eight fixtures, scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi, Multan and Lahore, will now be staged in the UAE,” the board said in a statement.

Match postponed after drone crash

Thursday’s game between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi was postponed after a drone crashed near the stadium, AFP reported.

“It was important for us to ensure the mental well-being of all players participating in the HBL PSL. I regret that our domestic audience and cricket lovers will not be able to watch these matches in Pakistan’s stadiums. We are committed to ensuring that the league continues to thrive,” said PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The decision followed several meetings between franchise representatives and Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s interior minister.

Thirty-seven foreign players from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are involved in the league.

Rossouw and Nawaz light up PSL

Twin centuries by Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz powered Quetta Gladiators to a record total on Wednesday, handing Islamabad United a crushing defeat. The win lifted Quetta to the top of the table and gave their net run rate a significant boost ahead of the playoffs.

For Islamabad, it was a fourth straight loss after starting the season with five consecutive wins. The defending champions now sit third on the table with 10 points and must win their final group game against Karachi Kings on May 10 to keep their hopes of a top-two finish alive.

Conflict escalates across the border

Meanwhile, the India-Pakistan conflict entered a second day of intensifying military hostilities. The tensions follow last month’s deadly militant attack in India-administered Kashmir.
