The team

The Gujarat Lions are only a temporary IPL franchise who have been commissioned to replace one of the Chennai Superkings and Rajasthan Royals – both of which were suspended for two years. The team bought Indian cricketers Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, along with Brendon McCullum, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo. Raina was awarded the captaincy.
