Detroit: The Chicago Blackhawks scored three times in less than 100 seconds to set up a 7-1 rout of the Detroit Red Wings in Sunday’s NHL action.

The scoring spurt by the Western Conference leaders put them ahead 3-0 after only four-and-a-half minutes, and they cruised to victory from there.

Elsewhere, Columbus moved to within two points of Detroit by beating Anaheim in overtime, and Boston closed the gap on Northeast Division leaders Montreal to just one point by defeating Buffalo.

Chicago’s Brandon Sa’ad had two goals and an assist and Dave Bolland also scored twice. Jonathan Toews added a goal and two assists and Jeremy Morin and Nick Leddy, also scored for the Blackhawks. Cory Emmerton scored Detroit’s goal.

Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29 of 30 shots.

The Blue Jackets have points from each of their past 12 home games and are edging toward play-off contention.

Emerson Etem had the only goal for the Pacific Division-leading Ducks.

Boston’s David Krejci and Nathan Horton scored goals less than three minutes apart in the third period to beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-0.

Krejci broke open a scoreless game during a scramble in front with 7:06 remaining, and after Horton was stopped twice by Buffalo goalkeeper Ryan Miller. Krejci then returned the favour by setting up Horton for a tap-in in front with 4:16 left.

Anton Khudobin stopped 26 shots to earn only the second shutout of his career.

Los Angeles’ Brad Richardson and Justin Williams scored third-period goals just over a minute apart to help lift the Kings to a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars.
