Abu Dhabi:  Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt said he aims to ‘keep breaking records' after a stellar year on the track in 2009 saw him beat tennis maestro Roger Federer to the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award for the second year running.

Meanwhile women's world number one Serena Williams was crowned Sportswoman of the Year making it her second title.

The 23-year-old Bolt was not present to pick up his latest accolade at a glittering Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony held in the UAE for the first time, but in a live video conference from Jamaica, he admitted 2009 was more rewarding than his double gold medal winning feat in the 100 and 200 metres at Beijing 2008.

"It was an even better year," said Bolt. "I suffered an accident but bounced back. If you have the will and determination, anything's possible. I'll try to do even better this year. I've got to the stage where I know what winning is. I just want to keep winning and breaking records," he added.

Button's Breakthrough

The Laureus Breakthrough of the Year award went to Englishman Jenson Button following his maiden Formula One World Driver's title which he secured in the cockpit of Brawn GP. "I'm 30 years old and I'm a breakthrough sportsman - it's amazing," quipped Button who will drive for McLaren this season. "To be here now as Formula One champion and to pick up this Laureus award, it rounds up a very special season for me. But [today] the 2010 season starts and I'll be in Bahrain with my new team. I'm looking forward to it and it's going to be a belter of a season," he added.

Brawn GP who were renamed as Mercedes GP after the 2009 season were named Team of the Year while Belgian Kim Clijsters picked up the Comeback of the Year Award after coming out of retirement to win the US Open last September.
