Dubai from the sky: Remarkable shots taken by drone during the COVID-19 restrictions

When movement restrictions were announced in Dubai, to stop the spread of COVID-19, it was the perfect chance for the 20-year-old student Monish Satish from Dubai, to turn his attention to his hobby, photography. Since there were no cars on Dubai roads, Monish grabbed the opportunity to click these amazing aerial pictures of the emirate using a drone.

Monish, who is known as @monish.xx on Instagram, wanted to be creative and utilise his extra time shooting something different. Take a look at some of his bird's-eye-view shots of the empty roads in Dubai.

Satish told Gulf News: “I’m a Dubai-based photographer by hobby, and a certified drone pilot."

He added: "Since I couldn’t leave home, I decided to fly my drone from home and get some shots."

It turned out really cool because there’s barely any traffic on the road and we never see this in Dubai.

All pictures were taken around Dubai Internet City, Dubai Marina and a couple from Jumeirah area.

Satish added: “I am sure everyone can learn something new or practice their hobbies from home to pass time and fight this coronavirus.

While flying, it was so scary and very different seeing Dubai without traffic but it’s good to see everyone staying home and doing their part to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

Kudos to everyone working to help us do this from Dubai Police to the sterilisation teams and the frontliners like doctors and nurses.

"They are the real heroes who are risking their lives to save us."

Satish added: "Again, a big thank you to all the frontline workers helping us fight this pandemic."

Satish urges everyone to stay home unless it’s really necessary to go out.

He said: “We will fight this and overcome it together. Until then stay home and stay safe everyone!"
