See: UK artist Bansky's got rats in the bathroom

British graffiti artist Banksy is at it again – this time around while in COVID-19-imposed lockdown conditions. His latest showcase has a bunch of rats wreaking havoc in his bathroom.

He captions a series of images of his work – which looks as though a rat has jumped on a toothpaste tube, another has moved the mirror - “My wife hates it when I work from home.”

This is a 2009 oil-on-canvas called Devolved Parliament. In 2019, it became Banksy's most expensive to date, selling for £9.9 million at Sotheby's in London. On the post, the artists writes: “Devolved Parliament. I made this ten years ago. Bristol museum have just put it back on display to mark Brexit day. Laugh now, but one day no-one will be in charge.”

Banksy likes to be anonymous, has been since the 1990s. But every once in a while he comes out to interact with fans. Back in 2013, the artist was in New York and set up shop, selling ‘fake Banksys’ for about $60 each. (Some got discounts.) He posted a video of the buys, saying "Yesterday I set up a stall in the park selling 100% authentic original signed Banksy canvases. For $60 each.". Considering his pictures sell for a few hundred thousand a piece, well, someone got quite a deal.

Banky owns a signature style. In 2018, it was this distinctive style that helped Parisians spot a number of paintings that started sprouting up in Paris. One of these paintings shows a young black girl spraying a pink pattern over a swastika on a wall next to her sleeping bag and teddy bear, an attempt to make her spot, even if it is on the curbside, cozier.

Girl with Balloon is a series of murals by Banksy that depicts a young girl with a hand outstretched towards a red balloon. The murals have been spotted in a number of locations, but the reason it made headlines is perhaps slightly more shocking.

So here’s what happened. In 2018, the work was up for auction at Sotheby's, selling for £1,042,000 – a record high for the artist. The copy was suddenly shredded while under the hammer, thanks to a mechanical device Banksy had added to the frame. The artist called the result of this the birth of a new artwork. He called it Love is in the Bin. Sotheby said it was "the first work in history ever created during a live auction."
