Defence Expo: India shows off military might to the world — see pictures

People visit the DefExpo in Lucknow. India plans to spend $250 billion over a 10-year period to 2025 on defense modernisation. Combat jets, submarines, battle tanks and armored vehicles are among the procurement programs that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration is pursuing.

Modi poses with an assault rifle as he visits the DefExpo. In his address at the inaugural ceremony of the DefExpo2020, Modi said: "There are unlimited possibilities in defence manufacturing in India. There is talent and there is also technology, there is innovation and there is also infrastructure, there is favourable policy and there is also protection of foreign investment. Here is Demand, Democracy and also Decisiveness."

Akash surface-to-air missiles are displayed at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) area during the Expo. This time, over a 1,000 defence manufacturers and 150 companies from all over the world are part in the Defexpo. Apart from this, Defence Ministers of more than 30 countries and business leaders are also present.
