Bollywood: Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani talk marriage secrets, Shah Rukh Khan, and David Beckham on KWK

Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal came up with a string of revelations about married life, being called a lucky mascot, and how their wedding proposals panned out.

Kiara ‘the lucky mascot’: Kiara Advani is known in the industry to be a ‘lucky mascot’ given her films did well at the box office, including 'Kabir Singh', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', 'Jugjugg Jeeyo' and 'Satyaprem Ki Katha'. When Karan brought up her ‘luck’ factor, the actress shared something David Beckham said while at the India vs New Zealand World Cup 2023 semi-final game that resonated with her.

Not a lucky streak: The football legend said, according to Advani as reported by NDTV, “Someone around us was talking about how India is on this lucky streak with the way we are playing. He (David Beckham) said to me, ‘It's not luck. It's someone's hard work.' And, it hit me. I really resonated with that because it's never just a fluke. It's never just like a stroke of luck. It is always a team, in our case, of course. And many people's hard work. It's talent, skill, hard work…”

Late to the wedding: When Karan Johar revealed that the star was late to her wedding with Sidharth Malhotra, Advani defended herself saying the ‘baraat’ – the groom’s procession – was too early. She said, “It was a baraat that turned up early”. Johar reminisced about the incident saying: “But then it reached a point where we were like, ‘Koi Kiara ko bulaao ab. Kab aayegi? [Can someone call Kiara, when will she come?]’. It was getting so hot and all of us were tired, but when she came, she was looking so beautiful that it was all forgotten.”

Proposal in Italy: During the episode, Kiara revealed that the last time her husband Sidharth Malhotra graced the show, he had just proposed to her in Italy. The actress said,“When Sid came for that episode, we had just come back from Rome, where he proposed to me.” She added, “He's like, 'Dilli ka sidha sadha launda hoon’ (I am a simple boy from Delhi) with the full dialogues of ‘Shershaah’ and I burst out laughing.”

Vicky Kaushal’s proposal: The star shared, "It was very last minute. I had been warned by everybody that if you don't propose, it's something you'll have to be prepared for the rest of your life that you got to hear about it. I did that one day before the wedding." "We planned a special dinner. It was a beautiful setup and everything. There was dinner just before any of the friends or families could come. It was just us, so, yeah, it happened there," added Vicky. Vicky and Katrina tied the knot on December 9, 2021, at Rajasthan.

Marriage secrets: Speaking about how they get their respective spouses to do what they want, Vicky said, “Katrina is a perfect candidate for reverse psychology. If I want her to agree on something, I have to wholeheartedly, with abundance agree to what she wants. And then she turns around and says, 'BTW I see the point in what you're saying', and then she comes around”.

About Shah Rukh Khan: Vicky also shared his experience of working with Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Dunki’. Khan was missing on the day they had planned their scenes and a stunt double took over. Vicky said Khan called him back and apologised, insisting that they reshoot the scene. He said, “I had to call him and convince him ki 'nahi, Raju sir, is happy and it went okay… But he was like, 'no, we will do it again, I am feeling terrible that I couldn't be there'.” Kaushal said that’s what made Khan an icon.
