PRIORITISE CIVILIAN PROTECTION IN ISRAEL-GAZA WAR: In the wake of the recent tragic events Israel and Gaza with over a thousand lives lost, including dozens of children, and thousands injured, the primary focus of the international community must be to minimise civilian casualties. Both the civilian population in Israel and Palestine deserve full protection under international humanitarian law. It is crucial to de-escalate and prevent further violence, as highlighted by the UAE in a recent statement. The international community must work together to avert broader instability and involvement by other groups, ensuring that ongoing regional efforts for dialogue, cooperation, and coexistence are not derailed. Urgent de-escalation efforts and a return to negotiations for a two-state solution are imperative to provide both Palestinians and Israelis the opportunity to live in peace and dignity.
