This tragic event occurred on the eve of a visit by US President Joe Biden. Following the strike, the UAE and Russia jointly called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The UAE urged an immediate cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilians and civilian institutions in accordance with international humanitarian law. Given the highly volatile situation in the Middle East, de-escalation, ceasefire, provision of humanitarian aid, and mediation efforts are essential to resolve the Israel-Gaza impasse.
