THE FUTURE IS INDEED HERE IN DUBAI: The much-awaited opening of the Museum of the Future on Tuesday has indeed ushered in a reimagined future for the UAE. The ‘most beautiful building on earth’, it is not just an architectural marvel, but also an emphatic symbol of the remarkable vision of the leadership of the country. FOR UAE CRICKET, IT’S BEEN A WINTER OF CONTENT: It’s been a happening period over the last few months for UAE cricket – with the icing on the cake coming with the senior national team qualifying for the T20 World Cup later this year by ensuring a two-two finish in the Qualifiers A in Oman on Tuesday. It’s been after eight years since the 2014 edition that they managed to earn a ticket for the showpiece – a feat which didn’t come easy after the two years of pandemic. Earlier this month, the Under-19 squad led by Alishan Sharafu held their own by winning the Plate Championship in the Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies. And late last year, the UAE women’s team, led by the feisty Chhaya Mughal, made the cut from Asian zone for the global qualifiers of the next women’s World T20.
